At JHS Field Hockey Club, our mission is to cultivate an inclusive and dynamic environment where young athletes can thrive, both on and off the field. We are committed to providing equal opportunities for all players, recognizing the diverse potential in each individual. Our core focus is on nurturing talent, fostering a love for the game, and breaking down barriers to accessibility in the sport of field hockey.
We understand the importance of collegiate opportunities and are dedicated to supporting our athletes in their aspirations to play at the next level. Through comprehensive training programs, guidance in academic and athletic balance, and exposure to college recruitment processes, we aim to open doors for our players to prestigious educational and sporting futures.
Central to our ethos is the growth and promotion of field hockey. We strive to expand the reach of the sport, bringing it to new communities and audiences, and igniting passion for the game in areas where it has been traditionally underrepresented. By doing so, we hope to enrich the field hockey community, offering a platform where every aspiring athlete can dream big, achieve excellence, and foster lifelong connections through their love of the sport.
At JHS Field Hockey Club, we are more than a team – we are a family committed to excellence, inclusivity, and the enduring spirit of field hockey.
JHS Field Hockey Club, established in Spring 2024, was created to provide U16 and U19 age groups with endless opportunity to grow their individual skills, play in showcases & tournaments of their choosing, expand their knowledge of the game, and form relationships with many people of the FH community. JHS aims to help any and all field hockey players reach their goals whether it be to learn a single new skill, or to play at the Division I level.
JHS Field Hockey Club was created by Emma Barlett. Emma first began her field hockey journey in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania in 2015. In 2019, Emma moved to State College, Pennsylvania where she played for State College Area High School, Blue Lions Field Hockey Club, PA Revolutions, and Pittsburgh Venom Field Hockey Club. November of 2021 Emma verbally committed to the newly NCAA Division I program in Louisville, KY, Bellarmine University. In the Fall of 2022 Emma began her Freshman colligate season, and very soon after was diagnosed with Chronic Compartment Syndrome. In Spring of 2023 Emma underwent a medical retirement following two surgeries, and soon after she found herself filling her time with a new hobby- coaching. Emma started her coaching journey with Panthers United in Midlothian, Virginia, and in the Fall of 2023 was named the Head Coach for James River High School in Midlothian, VA.
With a passion of growing the game of field hockey, and providing field hockey athletes with the utmost support and opportunity, Emma started JHS Field Hockey Club.
